Unmarked BMW 5 Series London Ambulance Service Supervisor's Car Video

Several videos of the London Ambulance Service BMW 5 Series supervisor's cars taken in March, 2011 during the demonstrations for the cuts. These BMWs will soon be replaced by 4X4 vehicles due to the recent snowy winters in London. Notice the Landrover at the end.

How much does the ...
How much does the police force in London and area pay for these BMWs? They seem to? have sooo many in their fleet?! Can someone explain ?

Don't like the rear ...
Don't like the rear lights of unmarked car as flash unequally/are not properly syncronised - should be wig wag or synch flash but they are? somewhere between the two

the supervisor ...
the supervisor himself owns the car however the ambulance service fit it with blues and twos and insure it as an emergency vehicle to allow him to respond without taking an rrv off general service. they do respond to 999 calls because the service is so busy and it alows them to respond on blues directly from home in the even of? a national emergency :)

often supervisors ...
often supervisors respond to standard 999 calls, after? all they are paramedics, because the ambulance service is just so busy now.

Hi, see some of the ...
Hi, see some of the very good comments below which address this issue. The supervisors contribute to the payments of this car and use them for personal use? as well as for emergency use which is why they are unmarked.

Why would this ...
Why would this vehicle be? unmarked, what is the reason for it not to have the standard markings on the side like most emergency services vehicles?

Officers in ...
Officers in Unmarked cars only respond to major incidents, or things like large public events (such as football matches,? or stadium concerts). They tend to work the rest of the shift either at the control centre, or moving from station to station doing managerial roles. There is no point assigning them to a fully marked fully kitted car as it will take a vehicle off the road to be able to attend to emergencies.

Guys, some of you ...
Guys, some of you are being a little nieve. Senior managers are clearly given lease cars which they contribute payments to. This is used as their personal car but is fitted with covert blue lights in the event that they need to respond to incidents... hence this was the protests taking place in London. The vehicles are not used as a standard ambulance and? very rarely do they respond to emergency calls. They have blue lights to enable them to respond to large incidents.

I think when they ...
I think when they use it also as private vehicle they don't want other people to see what he normally works. In my city one water rescue service has two unmarked command cars, and the red cross has an almost unmarked chief unit (just one little sign on the hood). Others again are marked as for? example emergency doctor, but not from which organization

our officers use ...
our officers use their own cars? and the service fit them with fixed grille lights and siren and a magnetic lightbar. they take the lightbar off or just don't use it when off duty. the car is not owned by the service

Bran-new F10's wow...they shouldn't replace them just next time? get X-Drive

I think these are ...
I think these are unmarked due to the fact they are actually the ambulance officer's own cars what they take home, also note the fact that they have small (most probably magnetic) lightbars so it can be used as their everyday car too. Same goes for fire, except some of them get marked up cars, not sure about them getting to take them home but I know that there's an London Fire Brigade ADO who lives near me? and he takes his marked car home. Nice video, I've got some shots of that Land Rover too!
